Lo que nos ofrece Internet

Hoy quiero compartir con vosotros un listado de páginas web muy recomendables sobre noticias científicas o sobre ciencia, todas ellas de carácter divulgativo y muy interesantes.

   

El HHMI es un instituto filantrópico cuya misión es el avance de la investigación médica y de la educación científica. Fue creado en 1953 por el multimillonario, empresario, magnate, inversor, ingeniero autodidacta, aviador, productor y director de cine Howard Hughes, al que además se atribuye la famosa frase de “todo el mundo tiene un precio”. La página web del instituto resulta muy interesante pero sin duda, el apartado más entretenido es el del material educativo. El instituto, en apoyo de su vocación docente se ha comprometido a enviar material a todo aquel que lo solicite. Así, se pueden pedir películas de divulgación científica, juegos, libros, suscribirse a su boletín semestral, solicitar becas…

   

 

El Servicio de información y noticias científicas (SINC) es la primera agencia pública de España especializada en información sobre ciencia, tecnología e innovación en español. Comenzó su andadura en 2009, hace 5 años. Ofrecen información sobre ciencias naturales, tecnología, biomedicina y salud, matemáticas, física y química, humanidades, ciencias sociales, política científica e innovación. Permiten suscribirse a un boletín semanal con la información más actual.

    

La revista Materia es una revista similar a la anterior, aunque de creación más reciente, 3 de julio de 2012.

 

Tengo que reconocer que nos encanta Coursera y lo que ofrece. Coursera es una plataforma educativa asociada con las mejores universidades y organizaciones mundiales para ofrecer cursos online de forma gratuita. Ofrece MOOCs (Massive Open Online Course) sobre muchos temas, desde el curso Antimicrobial Stewardship: Optimization of Antibiotic Practices de la universidad de Stanford hasta Greek and Roman Mythology de la Universidad de Pennsylvania o Managing Fashion and Luxury Companies de la Università Bocconi. Sin duda, una gran opción para ampliar nuestra cultura general.

   

TED es una organización sin ánimo de lucro comprometida con la divulgación de ideas, normalmente mediante charlas cortas de menos de 20 minutos. La idea comenzó en 1984 a modo de conferencias sobre tecnología, entretenimiento y diseño. Hoy en día cubre casi cualquier tema en más de 100 idiomas. Algunas de las charlas sobre microbiología que se pueden encontrar son Are we filtering the wrong microbes?, Meet your microbes y How bacteria “talk”.

The webpage of the institute is very interesting, however the most entertaining section is the one with the educational material. The institute, in support of their teaching vocation is committed to submit material to anyone who requests. That is how you can order scientific documentaries, games, books, subscribe to their newsletter, ask for grants…

The information and science news service (SINC) is the first public agency in Spain specialliced in information about science, technology and innovation in spanish. It started working in 2009, 5 years ago. They offer information about natural sciences, technology, biomedicine and health, mathematics, physics and chemistry, humanities, social sciences, scientific politics and innovation. They allow the public to subscribe to a weekly newsletter with the most updated information.

The journal Materia is a journal similar to the previous one. However it is a journal of a more recent creation, 3rd of july of 2012.

TED is a non-profit organization committed to the disclosure of ideas, usually through short talks of less tan 20 minutes. The idea started in 1984 as conferences about technology, entertaining and design. Today the webpage covers almost any topic in more tan 100 languages. Some of the talks that you can find about microbiology are Are we filtering the wrong microbes?, Meet your microbes and How bacteria “talk”.
